Nope...
...Well I didn't get chosen for the Guest DT (design team) member spot for SavvynSassy...don't know what they are looking for I guess...maybe I should just stop applying for these things...maybe I'm just not good enough for a DT...I know I know, my mother would say just get right back up on the horse but it's tough taking all that rejection all the time. Oh well...there's a few DTs I was going to apply to this month but I'm not sure if I'm going to now...we'll see...if I do, I won't blog about it or think about it!! Then maybe something will happen...

Yes, Amanda...Mommy philosophy means getting back into that saddle! And you know, I've received rejection after rejection with my writing, [Galloping Gus is still periodically circulating with no takers after 20 years, for crying out loud!] but eventually things begin to happen. When someone has a creative soul, as you do, we sometimes interpret rejection a little too personally. It's as if someone has ripped out a portion of our heart - the part we just shared. But you know it's not like that. No one can take your creativity - it's your gift from God. The only thing people can do is to squelch your creativity. But you are my stubborn, little girl who would never let anyone do that! :):) When we are rejected by a company who is looking to publish - layouts or writing or whatever...remember they do not do it because you are not gifted. They do it because what you or I have offered at the time, does not suit. Your work is incredible. I would not be having you do my 'stuff' if I didn't think so. You need to keep that lovely chin up and keep at it no matter what.
Now before I end this tome of a comment, here are some quotes for you to think about:
1) Success consists of getting up just one more time than you fall. (Oliver Goldsmith)
2) Most successes are built on failures (Charles Gow)
3) He who has never failed as never tried (Emmett LeCompte)
4) Constant effort and frequent mistakes are the stepping stones of genius (Elbert Hubbard)
5) Success is never final. failure is never fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts! (Sir Winston Churchhill)
6) With time and patience, the mulberry leaf becomes satin (Old Chinese Proverb)
7) Be still and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10)
8) Joy is a woman's best cosmetic (Rosalind Russel)
Okay...I'll stop. Now saddle up that horse my sweet daughter! Love MOM X
Amen to you mommy ;) See.... KEEP GOING FOR IT!!!!
How wonderful to have you mom send you words of encouragement!!! Thanks to her! She inspired me too! I know EXACTLY how you feel!!! It's tough I know!! Believe me, I know! I've been rejected 1000 and 1 times for sure! It really gets me down for a day or 2 and then I pull up my "big girl panties" and get on with doing what I want to do, which is scrapping. You know my biggest rejection happened a few days ago when the layout that was initially ACCEPTED for the CS mag got pulled at the last minute. It devastated me, but it made me realize there is a reason and a season for everything so I have to look at it as that, it was not meant to be this "season". I'll try again some other time. And YOU must try too! Keep on keeping on!!! That's what scrappers must do, encourage each other, help each other through the tough times, and celebrate each others accomplishments. EVERY day we create, we accomplish something and make the world a better place! You go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your work is wonderful and when the time is right you will be the chosen one....keep trying
You have the perfect subject to do all those wonderful pages on ...Trenton has the best faces....keep trying and it will happen
Don't give up Amanda...you are a great designer!!!
I just LOVED your hockey booklet!!!
It is a needle in the haystack when applying to these things...it may take a hundred before one pick there is so much competition...keep submitting what you love to do and if picked it's just the icing on the cake!
You are awesome and inspiring!
Keep trying, Amanda! It's hard, I know. I recently applied for 2 DT's and hoping and paying I get ONE! If not, I will keep trying. Some people seem to have the "knack" for getting multiple dt's. Too bad the businesses don't believe in "spreading the wealth" :-) There are some awesome scrappers out there who have not been noticed yet!
